Wound dressing with ionic silver to prevent surgical site infection
Surgical site infection is relatively common after breast cancer surgery. Infections lower the quality of life of the patient and also slow down the important follow-up treatment. Our research compared the use of wound dressing with ionic silver with standard wound dressing on a group of 230 patients. Using the wound dressing with ionic silver, infection rates appeared to be lowered especially amongst patients that had undergone breast-conserving surgery. Also, with this type of dressing, patient satisfaction increased. The full article can be found on PubMed.
